This study examined the challenges facing printing and publishing industries in South East Nigeria in this era of information and communication technologies and how to manage and cope with the innovation in South East Nigeria. The survey research design was adopted. Questionnaire served as instrument for data collection. The population of the study comprised of employers and employees of twenty (20) registered printing and publishing companies who were purposively selected from the five states (Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States) in the zone, four printing and publishing industries were selected from each of the states. Generated data were analyzed using simple descriptive analysis method. Based on the findings, this study made the following recommendations; printing and publishing industries should fully embrace new information and communication technologies, there should be competent personnel and maintenance engineers on ICTs and the automated machines cum information technologies the printing and publishing industries especially in the South East have to accept, adapt and manage the ICTs demands so as to reduce prepress time, lower cost of labour and improve print quality. |
