Title: Framing of NYSC Members Welfare in Select Nigerian Newspapers
Author(s): Kolade AJILORE & Belinda Ameze FANIYI
Abstract: Media framing and its possible influence on audience perception has recently gained ascendancy in media scholarship. In this study, the possible correlation between newspaper framing of issues of welfare involving National Youth Service Corps members and the perception of the issues by stakeholders was examined. The methods used were content analysis of randomly selected Nigerian newspapers and survey of the stakeholders of the scheme. Findings affirmed the postulate of both the agenda setting and media framing theories as the study discovered a significant coincidence between the newspaper narratives and the perception of the issues by the stakeholders.
