Title: Knowledge and Application of Radio Family Planning Messages among Married Men in Ebonyi State, Nigeria

Abstract: This study investigated the knowledge and application of broadcast media family planning messages among married men in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. It aimed at determining the level of influence of broadcast media family planning messages among married men in the state, besides, the identification of the major inhibitors to the messages. Descriptive research design was adopted. Multi-stage sampling technique was used in sampling the location of the study and the actual respondents. The major findings of the study included that: the Ebonyi men’s level of knowledge of family planning strategies is significantly influenced by their exposure to broadcast media family planning messages, their level of application of family planning techniques is influenced by their exposure to the messages and level of education influences their exposure to the messages. It was recommended that: family planning messages should be packaged in the local dialects of the Ebonyi people order than the use of central Igbo, pigdin and English languages, respected local leaders and traditional rulers should endorse family planning messages to make them more culture oriented and that radio and television dramas and other structured broadcast programmes should be used to mobilise and sensitize the people to key into the advantages of family planning strategies.
