Author(s): Onuoha Florence Olachi, Obin Ogban & Ifeyinwa Nsude
Abstract: This research looked into how well public relations professionals in Ebonyi State know and use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. The focus was on members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ebonyi State Chapter. The study was based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and aimed to find out how aware PR practitioners are of AI tools, which ones they commonly use, how much AI has changed their work, and what factors like infrastructure, organization, and policies affect the use of AI in PR. The study used a descriptive survey approach. The total number of registered NIPR members in Ebonyi State was 73 (as per NIPR, 2025).Using purposive sampling, 70 participants who had knowledge and experience with AI in PR were chosen. Data was gathered through both open- and closed-ended questionnaires and analyzed using frequency tables. The results showed that PR professionals have a high level of awareness but only moderate knowledge and use of AI tools like ChatGPT, Canva, and Grammarly. The study found that strong policy support and training programs are essential for successfully integrating AI into public relations work.
